What is Somatic Breathwork?
Somatic Breathwork is a guided practice that uses intentional breathing to deepen awareness of your internal experience.
You’ll be:
Guided with intentions and prompts
Breathing to music to support rhythm and emotional connection
Given time for integration and optional sharing
There’s nothing to force, this is just space for your system to unwind, reset, and return to balance.
Stress impacts how we breathe
Over time, many people begin to use less of their lung capacity, reinforcing patterns of tension, dysregulation, dissociation and a narrowing of the window of tolerance, or zone of resilience.
This class offers a consistent way to interrupt that cycle and strengthen your relationship to your body.
We use a three-part breath, which is a steady, continuous rhythm of drawing air into the belly and then the chest. This breathing invites a wave of activation energy, which helps to clear stuck energy, followed by a period of restful breathing that allows the nervous system to settle into a deep parasympathetic state. This creates a space for the processing of stored emotions and for new insights to emerge.
What are the benefits?
Lowered heart rate and blood pressure
Reduced stress and anxiety
Improved regulation of cortisol and other stress hormones
Improved energy levels
Increased ability to relax, rest and sleep
Greater clarity, presence and self-connection
Greater emotional availability in relationships
You may also notice:
New insights or perspective
Creative thinking or problem-solving
A deeper connection to intuition or inner guidance
Who is this for?
This class may be a good fit if you:
Feel disconnected from your body or internal experience
Experience stress, anxiety, physical pain, grief, depression or emotional overwhelm
Want a structured space for self-reflection and reset
Are curious and open to being surprised
No prior experience is needed
Working with Energy Centers
This practice invites awareness of the body’s internal landscape, including areas often described as chakras, or energy centers.
Rather than approaching this concept abstractly, we use it as a way to:
Notice where you feel open or restricted
Track sensation and emotional response in the body
Support a sense of flow, grounding, and connection
The focus remains on direct experience, i.e., what you can feel and integrate.
