The strange thing about somatic work is that something so simple can change how you experience nearly everything.
The reason is that most of us walk around with perception that has been shaped, and distorted, by emotional pain we never processed.
When you do the inner work to surface that pain, it can feel like cleaning a pair of glasses you didn't know were dirty. The world gets more detailed and more vivid. You see more clearly, and you respond in ways that are more flexible and more intelligent. Often the people around you notice before you do.
Simply put: the more you resolve, the more of the world you can take in.
In fact, one way to define mental health is how closely your picture of the world matches the world itself. As you heal, the two draw closer. You connect more with what's actually in front of you, your relationships deepen and your inner guidance system becomes more reliable.
Simply noticing which pair of glasses you have on at a particular moment can increase your self awareness and lead to better choices.
