Somatic Therapy
Trusted by Clients From:
To create our approach, we trained in-person with:
Bessel Van Der Kolk, author of The Body Keeps the Score,
Peter Levine, founder of Somatic Experiencing,
Laurel Parnell, founder of Attachment Focused-EMDR &
Dick Schwartz, founder of Internal Family Systems.
Our approach gets to the root of the issue which lies in nervous system dysregulation.
Evidence shows that our somatic approaches are effective both in-person & online.
Somatic Therapy for
Mind & Body in Distress
Therapy with us involves experiential nervous system education and carefully tailored care.
Clients come to us when they feel:
Anxious, overwhelmed or burned out
Disconnected or numb
Stuck, trapped or hopeless
Irritable or a lack of focus
Racing, looping or incessant thinking
Body symptoms like IBS, migraines or back pain
Talk therapies often describe the issue without fixing it or they attempt what can’t be done, e.g., thinking your way out of anxiety. It can often feel like talking in circles without anything changing.
That is because stress, anxiety and pain exist below the mind at the body-level where unprocessed emotion, trauma, and energy have become stuck.
Your body is literally calling you back into connection + health if you will just listen.
Our 3-Step Approach to Nervous System Regulation
Somatic therapy doesn’t have to be mysterious or “woo-woo”.
We directly treat the nervous system using evidence-based techniques.
In sessions you can expect:
-
Healing begins with a safe and supportive connection. We work at your pace without rushing or pushing.
(This stage applies relational and person-centered therapies)
-
We build a shared understanding of how your symptoms operate and what keeps them in place today. In the process, we meet your protective parts that guard emotional burdens and unprocessed losses and we map out what needs to happen in order to heal.
(This stage applies Internal Family Systems & Psychodynamic therapies)
-
Inside every session, we use focused somatic techniques to get to the root of your symptoms.
You'll learn how to listen, really listen, to the signals your body is sending.
This awareness work allows blocked energy to discharge & restores you to a baseline of restful alertness and natural motivation and energy. This state becomes a home base you can keep coming back to.
Exercises include:
State awareness training
Down-regulation & up-regulation–through breath, sound, self-touch & movement
Restoration of boundaries, voice & healthy aggression
You can try out some of our somatic tools here.
You’ll learn to integrate these tools into work, relationships, exercise and sleep to create a positive upward spiral that supports long-term resilience.
(This stage applies Somatic Experiencing and Attachment-Focused EMDR Therapies)
This isn’t about "coping better"
It's about upgrading your nervous system to greater capacity & vitality.
After Working With Us:
Your Body Feels Safe & Your Story Updates
We teach every client: Story follows state.
The story that appears true depends on the state of your nervous system. “When you are dysregulated, pessimism and despair prevail. When your body feels good, hope & optimism appear naturally.
By helping your body find safety and connection, your perspective on life shifts and your identity updates. You start getting reflections that “something has changed” and that you are “lighter to be around”. This energy is magnetic and attracts good people.
After working with us, clients often report:
Inner strength & resilience
Less anxiety, depression & chronic pain
Better sleep & physical wellbeing
Feeling lighter, clearer, and less burdened
Improved personal and professional relationships
Positive life changes that stick and compound
